As part of Milford's "One City, One Story" project, we were able to Skype with the author of our elementary book Wilma Unlimited, Kathleen Krull. All of third grade was able to chat with her in the media center where Mrs. Krull joined us all the way from California! It was so much fun! Click here to visit her website and check out some of the other amazing books she has written.
Check out the book trailers the 5th graders have been working on! We used a website called Animoto. Students had a great time with this project. Click here to view their work, or go to "student work" in the toolbar to your left. Enjoy!
Soon April showers will bring May flowers. Grab a good book and a blanket and doing some outdoor reading.
Today is a very special day for reading. Each year on March 2nd, we honor Dr. Seuss's birthday by celebrating reading! Schools all across the country participate in an event called Read Across America. We call it Read Across Mathewson. We had assemblies, guest readers, and special reading events and activities happening all over the school all day long. In the library, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Dr. Feser, our superintendent, and two Firefighters from the Milford Fire Department. Thank you for coming to read to us!
What did you read?
RAISE YOUR HAND if you are as excited as I am about the announcement that there is an 8th Harry Potter book being released this summer!! Growing up, they were my absolute favorite, so I cannot wait for July 31st!!
Swing by the library to look at the display on Black History Month. Check out a book or read the blurbs about famous people throughout history!
I hope everyone had a restful winter break. For the rest of the year, Kindergartners will be allowed to bring two books home. Let's make 2016 a great year!
Congratulations to Gavin for winning the 2015-2016 book monster contest. We are happy to have Mike Wazowski in the Mathewson library media center!
